Neesha Flint

Meet us

Neesha Flint brings a wealth of leadership experience from her time in various independent schools. Her career includes roles such as Mathematics Teacher at Aquinas College, Head of Year (Secondary) at Penrhos College, and both Head of Senior School and Director of Learning at Presbyterian Ladies’ College (PLC) in Perth. Most recently, she served as Principal at Geraldton Grammar School, where she was the second-longest-serving leader in the school’s history.
Neesha holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Western Australia (UWA). Throughout her career, she has developed extensive expertise in dispute management—an essential aspect of her leadership roles. After successfully assisting a close friend through a family dispute, she was encouraged to pursue mediation professionally. She
completed her formal Mediation Training at UWA in early 2025.

Neesha is known for her quick thinking, direct and practical approach to problem-solving, and her broad life experience. She is passionate about helping others find resolution through clear and compassionate communication.

Marcela Borges holds a Law degree and Mediation qualification with a deep commitment to amicable conflict resolution and relational wellbeing. After completing her Law degree in Brazil in 2018, Marcela began her career at the Federal Court, where she mediated complex cases involving business dissolution, asset division, child custody, and even pet custody. A pivotal moment early in her career—a mediation between two women navigating a shared relationship and pension entitlement—deepened her belief in the human capacity for understanding and mutual respect. Originally specialising in property law, Marcela soon recognised that beneath every legal dispute lies a deeper emotional narrative. Her work representing divorcing couples and facilitating mediation highlighted the value of preserving connection, dignity, and communication, even in moments of conflict.

Since relocating to Australia in 2019, Marcela has focused on expanding access to effective, empathetic communication tools. She is currently a mediator assessor and coach for the UWA NMAS Accreditation Training and Assessment, and a partner at SB Inter, assisting clients globally with bureaucratic matters in Brazil.

Inspired by Esther Perel’s approach to relationships, Marcela believes that love is a fundamental human need—and that understanding, not judgment, is the key to transforming conflict. Her mission is to help couples and individuals navigate challenges with empathy, insight, and care.

Learn more about Mediation

1

What Mediation is?

Mediation is a structured, voluntary process where an independent third party, the mediator, helps people in dispute reach a mutually agreeable resolution. Mediation is widely used in family law, workplace conflicts, commercial disputes, and community disagreements, providing an alternative to court proceedings that is often faster, less expensive, and less adversarial. Mediators do not advise upon, evaluate or determine disputes. They assist in managing the process of dispute and conflict resolution whereby the participants agree upon the outcomes, when appropriate.

2

How Does Mediation Work?

Mediation involves a neutral mediator facilitating discussions between the parties in conflict. Unlike a judge or arbitrator, the mediator does not impose a decision but instead guides the conversation, ensuring that all perspectives are heard and helping the parties explore potential solutions.

A typical mediation process includes:

  • Preparation: Each party provides background information on the dispute.

  • Opening Statements: The mediator outlines the process, and each party has the opportunity to express their concerns.

  • Discussion & Negotiation: The mediator facilitates dialogue, clarifies issues, and encourages parties to identify possible resolutions.

  • Agreement: If an agreement is reached, it is documented and can be legally binding, depending on the nature of the dispute.

3

Benefits of Mediation

  • Cost-Effective: Mediation is generally less expensive than litigation.

  • Time-Saving: Disputes can often be resolved in a matter of hours or days, rather than months or years in court.

  • Confidential: Discussions in mediation are private and cannot be used in court unless both parties agree.

  • Less Stressful: The process is designed to be collaborative rather than confrontational.

  • Greater Control: Parties retain decision-making power instead of having a ruling imposed by a judge.
